The Forest Theatre is a theatre conservatory welcoming children to experience the elements of theatre…in the forest.

Historical aspects of theatre, music and dance will be introduced as the basis for culture and communication. Depending on the age group, a typical day for a young performer may involve breathing exercises, singing warm ups, reading the book the play will be adapted from, researching the aspects of theatre and how those aspects are connected to small farming towns, writing a short journal entry, blocking and rehearsing the show. 

• The 2022 program runs for 3 consecutive weeks. Each program culminates at the end of the 3 weeks in a unique and authentic performance in the forest.

  • Wing & Song (ages 8-12) runs from July 4-22, Monday-Friday from 1-3:30pm

  • Dancing Moths (ages 5-7) runs from August 1-19, Monday-Friday from 1-2:30pm

• Performances are structured to feature each child to the best of his or her ability.

• Price for the entire 3-week program is $725 for Dancing Moths and $1200 for Wing & Song. {10% discount for participants who are full-time, year round Shelter Island residents} Full 3-week registration only.
