The Shelter Island Historical Society is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit educational organization that owns and operates The Shelter Island History Center, including the Havens House Museum which is listed on the State and National Registries of Historic Landmarks. All programs and operations are funded by donations, sponsorships, grands and fundraising events. The Society's mission is to collect, research, and share local history to preserve the Island's heritage for future generations.
