Gilead by Marilynne Robinson

Gilead, winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in fiction, is the story of John Ames, a seventy-seven-year-old pastor who is writing an account of his life and his family history to leave to his young son after he dies. The New York Times described it as “a beautiful work -- demanding, grave and lucid.”
