With more than 17 miles of shoreline, it isn’t surprising that boating, sailing and fishing are an integral part of Shelter Island life. The pristine waters offer a wide variety of boating destinations. Regatta’s run every Wednesday night during the summer months. Public dockage available at The Coecles Harbor Marina & Boatyard and Island Boatyard and MarinaThe Island Yacht Charters offers sailboat charters while Tubby Charters offers fishing and cruising trips on scenic Peconic Bay. Farm Stands and Community Sustainable Agriculture (CSA)
Local farming and farm stands are a signature source for the freshest fruits and vegetables. Visit the Sylvester Manor Educational Farm and the Farmer’s Market in the Barn at theShelter Island Historical Society for Shelter Island grown produce.

Day Camp
Camp Quinipet offers Summer Day Camp and Sleep-away camp for Churches, non-profits and educational groups. 

Golfing
Shelter Island boasts a challenging 9-hole public course at theShelter Island Country Club on Goat Hill and 18-hole private course at the Gardiner’s Bay Country Club, both set in beautiful landscapes complete with breathtaking views.

Hiking/Nature Walks/Historic Landmarks

Physical Fitness –Pilates, Yoga, Zumba

Summer Reading Club, Used Book Sales and Library Event
Children of all ages are invited to take part in the Shelter Island Public Library’s annual summer reading club, craft programs, special performances and other educational, fun events. Friday Night Dialogues and author visits run year-round. The Library’s Book Sale is open every Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Swimming
Town bathing beaches are located on Shelter Island at Wades Beach and Louis’ Beach. Travel south via South Ferry for access to Ocean Beaches.

Tennis
Reserve your tennis court or take a lesson at the Moussa Drame Tennis at the Pridwin Hotel. 

Worship
There are six churches on Shelter Island, Grace Episcopal Church, Our Lady of the Isle R.C. Church, Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, Shelter Island Friends Meeting (Quakers), Shelter Island Presbyterian Church and Union Chapel in the Grove. For schedules and services check their listing

Vineyards
Local vineyards and wine-tastings are accessible by traveling the North Ferry and South Ferry to both the South and North Fork.
